Welcome to Valiyakulangara Devi Temple, Mahadevikadu
The temple is situated at about three and half kilometres west of Nangyarkulangara junction in Karthikapilly of Alleppey district. The main deity ‘Bhadrakali’ is made of ‘daru’ (Wood of neem tree) faces north and is of six and half feet in height . ‘Jala dristi’ is the mother. The major festival falls in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (Feb-Mar) on Aswathi Nakshatra. ‘Kuthiyottam’ the offering of the worshippers reaches the ‘Ammas’ presence on the festival day. Chanth’aattom is one of the favourite offerings (Vazhipadu) of the Devi. The ‘Kettukazhcha’ the evening ritual performed in the month of Meenam on aswathi Nakshatra is an amazing visual spectacle which attracts thousands of devotees from different parts of Kerala.

The festivals of Valiya Kulangara devi temple - Ethirelpu : By the end of the Malayalam month Vrischikam, Parakkezhunnellathu- During the months of Dhanu- Makaram Aswathi festival – In the month of Kumbham, Pongala & Kettu kazhcha – In the month of Meenam on Aswathy nakshatra, Navaha Yagnam- In every three years, The festivals Navarathri, Thiruvonam and Deepavali are celebrated with ‘Niramala’ and special special poojas.
